§ 2-2. Election of councilmember; term of office.

  • (a)

    At the municipal election in 2004 and every four (4) years thereafter, the qualified electors who reside in each of the above described districts of the city and who are entitled to participate in such elections, shall elect one (1) councilperson to the city council for that district.

    (b)

    Each councilperson so elected must be a bonafide elector of and must actually reside in the district for which he is elected for the period of time as required by state law to become an eligible elector. Each councilperson so elected shall hold office for a period of four (4) years and until his successor shall be elected and qualified or until such councilperson shall resign, die, move his or her residence outside of the district or otherwise be removed from office.
